QBC Capillary Centrifuge - An Ultra-compact Device for Rapid Hematology Testing

QBC Capillary CentrifugeDesigned for centrifuging QBC tubes of patient blood samples, the QBC Capillary Centrifuge can centrifuge up to 20 samples at one time in as little as 5 minutes. This centrifuge is designed for use with the QBC Autoread Plus, QBC Malaria Test, QBC Reader II and QBC AccuTube. Direct malaria detection by the QBC Test method is more rapid than conventional blood-film microscopy. Rotor speed and timing is computer controlled for consistent performance.

QBC centrifugal hematology tests are based on a high-precision glass capillary tube containing an equally precise plastic float. Coated reagents in the QBC blood tube enhance the visual separation between cell layers and provide differential staining so that tubes can be read by non-automatic and automatic QBC analyzers. The tubes are sealed with a plastic closure or rubber stopper and contain a precision-molded float within the blood-filled tube.

The key features of the QBC Capillary Centrifuge are:

  • Rotor Capacity - Up to 20 numbered tube slots
  • Rotor Speed - 12,000 rpm ± 80 rpm
  • Electronic Timer - 300 seconds spin; 15-20 seconds deceleration
  • Electro-Mechanical Safety Interlock - Lid must be closed and latched before motor can be energized. Lid remains locked until rotor stops.

Electrical power to the centrifuge is controlled by a momentary ON/OFF power button located on the front deck. Following Drucker Diagnostics' operating precautions is crucial for obtaining properly centrifuged specimens and avoiding damage or hazards:

  • Always place blood tubes on the rotor in a balanced array, for smooth operation and long service life
  • Make sure to install the rotor cover before closing the top lid
  • Never attempt to override the lid safety interlock
  • Don't pick up or move the centrifuge while the rotor is spinning
  • Be careful when using QBC tubes, as these tubes are made of glass. It can break, causing injury and exposure
  • If a tube breaks, carefully remove broken glass with a hemostat or other device, using puncture-resistant utility gloves, and dispose of properly
  • Disinfect rotor after a tube break
  • For continued safety, periodically inspect the rotor for signs of wear or defects

Online stores of professional lab equipment suppliers offer new as well as refurbished models of this centrifuge at great prices.
