Take confirmatory bilirubin blood tests off the table
Bilirubin blood tests are time consuming and expensive.
A faster and more affordable way to confirm urinary bilirubin is via Ictotest® tablets.
All you need is a pipette and distilled water. Everything else (absorbent mats and reagent tablets) are provided with the Ictotest® kit.
The procedure is easy to perform and gives reliable answers when a fresh urine specimen is used and the tablets are properly stored.
Save $200 over your regular supplier when you order a case of Ictotest® tablets
How does Ictotest® work?
Ictotest® tablets are used as a confirmatory assay for the presence of urinary bilirubin when a frontline test (like a urine strip or other semi-quantitative method) has a positive result.
The Ictotest® reagent tablets rule-out the presence of interfering substances that could cause a false positive.
Here’s what you do:
![](/web/image/296442-33b830fe/step1.webp)
Prepare the sample
Place a square of the absorbent test mat onto a paper towel. Either side of the test mat can face up. Place 10 drops of urine onto the center of the test mat.

Dispense the tablet
Shake one Ictotest® tablet into the the bottle cap and transfer the tablet to the center of the moistened mat. Do not handle tablet with your fingers.

Wet the tablet
Place one drop of distilled water onto the tablet. Wait 5 seconds and repeat with a second drop. The water should run off the mat.

Observe the result
Wait 60 seconds for the result to present.
The presence of a blue or purple color on the mat indicates that bilirubin is present.
The absence of blue or purple color on the mat indicates that no bilirubin is present.
What does a positive Ictotest® mean?
A positive Ictotest® means bilirubin is present in the urine sample.
The presence of bilirubin is an important finding in the evaluation of liver function and a positive detection could be an indication of liver disease such as jaundice, cirrhosis, or hepatitis.
Clinical labs use Ictotest® reagent tablets to confirm bilirubin results before communicating lab test results to patients.
Ictotest® reagent tablets are fast, accurate, and much more budget-friendly than ordering followup blood tests.
Want to know how to interpret Ictotest® results?
It’s super easy.
Blue or purple on the test mat means positive. Red or orange or yellow or anything else means negative.
