Instructions for VACUETTE Z Urine Tubes

Wear gloves when handling urine collection tubes.

    A. When using a urine beaker with ring screw closure

    1. Open the beaker.

    2. Submerge the tip of the Urine Transfer Device into the urine specimen.

    B. When using Urine Beakers with Safety Stopper

    1. Do not open the beaker.

    2. Submerge the tip of the transfer device into the specimen by pushing the tip through the cross cut in the stopper of the lid.

    C. When using a Urine Beaker with Integrated Transfer Device (which has an off-centered integrated transfer device):

    1. Do not open the beaker.

    2. Peel back the safety label on top of the beaker to expose the Integrated Transfer Device.

    D. When using a Urine Cup with Integrated Transfer Device (which has a centered integrated transfer device):

    1. If more than one tube will be filled, loosen the lid slightly more than a quarter turn to normalize the pressure inside the cup.

    2. Peel back the safety label on top of the cup to expose the Integrated Transfer Device.

    3. Insert the VACUETTE urine tube into the (integrated) urine transfer device until the safety stopper is fully penetrated.

    4. The vacuum in the VACUETTE urine tube automatically draws in urine. Once full, simply remove the tube.

    5. Invert the VACUETTE urine tube several times and replace the protective sticker on the lid of the beaker.

    6. Remove the safety cap from the VACUETTE Z urine tubes with a simple pull action.

    7. Dispose urine tubes per general hygiene guidelines and legal regulations for the proper disposal of infectious material.

    * To maintain specimen integrity, if testing isn't possible within two hours of collection, refrigeration (2-8°C) as recommended per CLSI GP16-A3 guidelines.
